Thin Clients

In the Thin Clients area, you can manage end devices registered on the UMS server. All devices registered on the UMS server are shown.

The name of a thin client shown in the navigation tree is used for identification in the UMS and does not need to be identical to the name of the thin client in the network. The name shown in the navigation tree does not need to be unique and can be used a number of times.

Up to and including Version 5.01.100, the MAC address serves as a unique identifier for a thin client. From Version 5.02.100, the unit ID serves as a unique identifier. With IGEL thin clients, IGEL zero clients, devices with the IGEL UDC and devices with the IGEL UMA, the unit ID is assigned the MAC address of the device.

You can structure the Thin Clients area by creating directories and, possibly, sub-directories. When doing so, you should bear in mind that each thin client can only be shown once in the navigation tree. You can move a thin client by dragging and dropping it from one directory to another.

The symbols in the navigation tree show the status of a thin client:

TC online

The thin client is online.

The thin client is offline.

Changes were not yet transferred to the thin client (possible with all statuses).

IGEL OS Version 10.03.100 offers the following new status displays. In order to make them visible, the Thin clients send status updates option must be enabled (default). To do this, go to UMS Administration > Global Configuration > Thin Client Network Settings > Advanced Thin Client Status Updates.

The thin client will show the logon screen (if configured).

The thin client will receive an update.

The UMS has no license for the thin client.

The thin client has never been registered.

The UMS monitors the status of the thin clients by regularly sending UDP packets. In accordance with the preset, this occurs every 3 seconds. You can specify the interval for the online check in the Misc > Settings > Online Check menu. You can also update the status manually.

From Version 5.05.100, UMS also supports the management of thin clients marked with a cloud symbol via IGEL Cloud Gateway (ICG):

The thin client connected via IGEL Cloud Gateway is offline.
