Disabling Features to reduce Firmware Size

You want to update your IGEL UD OS firmware to release version 5.07.100 or later. This firmware update requires more than 1 GB of disk space. Updating devices with less disk space will lead to an error: Not enough space on local drive.

The size of the new firmware

exceeds the device's disk space (e.g. 1 GB).

Disable firmware features not needed for productive operation to reduce the size of the firmware:

  1. In IGEL Setup go to System > Firmware Customization > Features.
  2. Disable features not needed in your environment.
  3. Activate your settings with Apply or OK.
  4. Reboot the thin client.
  5. Update the thin client.

The text file optional_features_list.txt included with IGEL Linux 4.x and IGEL Linux 5 from version 5.08.100 on lists optional feature partitions and their sizes.

Use profiles with UMS in order to deactivate features on a group of thin clients.

    IGEL's Terms & Conditions apply.
